StarsInLight is a browser-based astronomy app: it renders the night sky using your device’s sensors and location, computed from a real star catalogue and astronomical engine. It is a naked-eye sky guide, not a precision instrument — treat everything it shows (positions, times, your inferred latitude) as accurate to within a degree or so, not survey-grade. Don’t rely on it for navigation, safety-critical decisions, or anything where being off by a degree matters.

You need an account, handled through our authentication provider Clerk, to save preferences or use Starwarden features. You’re responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure.

Starwarden is a one-time purchase, processed by Stripe, that permanently unlocks The Deep Reaches, The Astrolabe, The Codex, and Postcards on your account. It is not a subscription and does not renew or expire. Because it’s a digital unlock applied immediately to your account, purchases are generally final; if something went wrong with your purchase, contact us and we’ll make it right.

Use StarsInLight for its intended purpose. Don’t try to circumvent the Starwarden paywall, scrape or redistribute the underlying star catalogue and data outside the terms of its own licence (see the attribution page), or interfere with the service for other users.

StarsInLight is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind. Sensor accuracy varies by device, and cloud cover, magnetic interference, and hardware quirks are outside our control. We don’t guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or perfectly accurate.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Majestic Light Group is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim.

We may update these terms as the app changes; the date at the top will reflect that. We may suspend or terminate access for use that violates these terms. You can stop using the app, or delete your account, at any time — see the privacy policy for what deleting your account does.
